Claire Crowe–Simple Elegance

Conceived in 2010 with a bare fireplace and a sketchpad, Claire Crowe’s company has grown from a one-woman operation to a fully equipped design studio and manufactory.

The studio specializes in beautifully crafted objects for the home with an emphasis on nature-inspired fire screens and furnishings, mineral lighting, wall decor and hand carved stone accessories. Reflecting the mood of the modern home, designs are both simple and luxurious.  The aesthetic ranges from organic to geometric, but all of these pieces are created with a reverence and affinity for interior decoration that stands the test of time. Crowe’s small, hard-working team develops, creates and ships each piece from the studio in Dallas, Texas.  We think our collection will mix in beautifully with the other treasures for home to be discovered at Round Top’s best show, The Arbors, starting March 27th.  Find our directory here.

Claire Crowe finds inspiration in the beauty of the natural world: birds, crystals, branches, and buds. Each of the metal pieces starts as a musing on the nature of bees, or a dogwood blossom, or the way seafoam arranges itself on the sand.  Claire captures the ideas in a sketch, which she then brings to the metal shop to be transformed into bronze or iron or steel.  After refinement of the concept and fabrication of the design, she hand finishes it in shades of Egyptian gold, warm silver, bronze, and many other hand painted decorative finish options.

Crowe’s team can translate the motifs into a variety of forms:  mirrors; folding screens; hanging lights and myriad table concepts including consoles, cocktail tables, and small drinks tables.  Fourteen dramatically different finishes change the character of each item, ensuring that one has dozens of options.  Crowe explains: “We follow in the tradition of Old World fabrication techniques by meticulously forming, painting or oxidizing metal to achieve that unique texture of well-worn ironwork. Our finishes are applied by hand in multiple layers to give each piece an enduring luster.”

Round Top is a festive confluence of quality antiques and furnishings, excellent decorative services and venues, discerning buyers, influential designers, and wonderful friends.  I’m so excited to be showing at Round Top because I know I’ll meet people from all over the country, connect with old friends, and have a blast in the Arbors’ field surrounded by friends.   Round Top helps me connect with customers and artists and educate designers, builders and architects about our product line and custom capabilities. We are also excited to introduce our new quick ship program of fire screens ready to be shipped immediately or inside a few weeks. Come take a sneak peek at these new designs while you’re in town!
